Stratocaster repair & replacement parts replacement
ストラトのピックガードとピックアップカバーを交換するために分解したら、ボリュームポットの穴が一回り大きく削られていた。ワッシャーも一回り大きかったので以前改造した時にUSサイズだったのか? 新しく買ったピックガードは、ミリ／インチ両サイズ兼用設計だったので削らないでOK。62年式の11点留めを購入したのだが、ネジ穴の位置が一箇所違った。 Fender Japan純正より採寸した商品でも72年式が正解だったようだ。が、普通に穴を開け直して装着完了。しかし音を出してみると・・・・
When I disassembled it to replace the Strato’s pickguard and pickup cover, the hole in the volume pot was cut a little bigger. The washer was also one size larger, so was it US size when it was remodeled before? The newly bought pickguard was designed for both millimeter and inch sizes, so you don't have to cut it. I bought an 11-point clasp of the 1962 model, but the position of the screw hole was different in one place. ピックガードとピックアップカバーのを交換を終え、ストラトを元に戻して弾いてみると音が途切れる。組み上げる時にボリュームポットとジャック側に配線するハンダが取れてしまったらしい。引っ張ってみるとピンピンで余裕がない。これは線ごと交換か？と思いジャックを外してみると余分に線が巻かれてあった！ハンダをちょいと付け直してみると、見事に復活。というか、以前よりボリュームが滑らかに反応するようになった。
After exchanging the pickguard and pickup cover, I put the Strat back on and played it, and the sound was interrupted. It seems that the solder to be wired to the volume pot and the jack side was removed when assembling. When I pull it, I can't afford it. Is this a replacement for each line? When I removed the jack, I found an extra wire wound around it! When I reattached the solder a little, it revived wonderfully. Rather, the volume reacts more smoothly than before.
このストラトは2002～2004年に購入後、P.U.カバーを3つともクリーム色に変えたのだが、その後リアP.U.をディマジオのハムバッカーに交換したので、色が合わなくなってしまった。今回、ディマジオのPU（経年変化した白色）に合わせて残り二つのP.U.カバーを元のホワイトに戻してエイジド加工。ピックガードは買った当時のまま（左側）だったが、青っぽく見えるので右側のような少し黄色味がかったエイジドホワイト仕様に変えてみた。直接音に関係がないリプレイスメント・パーツの変更だが、組み上げる時アームやP.U.の高さ、ブリッジのネジ調整をしたり配線修理以外にも色々といじった。それに先月はエフェクター設定を整えたりバッファーをかましたので、容姿共にかなりスッキリとストレートな感じになった。指の調子も戻ってきたし、まずまずの春先になった。
After purchasing this Stratocaster from 2002 to 2004, I changed all three P.U. covers to cream, but after that I replaced the rear P.U. with a DiMarzio humbucker, so the colors did not match. This time, the remaining two P.U. covers are returned to the original white to match DiMarzio's P.U. (white that has changed over time) and aged. The pickguard was the same as it was when I bought it (on the left), but it looks bluish, so I changed it to a slightly yellowish aged white specification like the one on the right. It was a change of replacement parts that was not directly related to the sound, but when assembling, I made various adjustments other than adjusting the height of the arm and P.U., screwing the bridge, and repairing the wiring. Last month, I adjusted the effector settings and added a buffer, so the appearance was pretty neat and straightforward. My fingers are back in shape and it's a decent early spring.

P.U.カバーの側面をエメラルドグリーンに、GOTOHのブリッジサドルの上面をブルーグレー色にした。しばらくネオジムをリアP.U.につけていて磁力が回復したのか？配線のせいか、3つのP.U.の差がなくなって明らかに以前とは違う。動画のBGMは修復の直後に録ったdemo Song。
The side of the P.U. cover is emerald green, and the top of the GOTOH bridge saddle is blue gray. Did the magnetic force recover after attaching neodymium to the rear P.U. for a while? Probably because of the wiring, the difference between the three P.U.s has disappeared and it is clearly different from before. The BGM of the video is a demo song recorded immediately after the restoration.

ストラトのレバースイッチ・ノブが割れてしまった。ミントグリーンのノブを買ったが、シーグリーン(海緑色)に塗り替えてストラトのレバースイッチ・ノブを装着！
The Strato’s lever switch knob has broken. I bought a mint green knob, but I changed it to sea green and attached a Strato lever switch knob!

以前からストラトの6弦(C)のテンションが弱かったのでストリングガイドをつけようとしたが、ペグの高さ調整が出来るマグナムロックに変更した。ブラックの在庫がなくて届くまで一ヶ月。ヘッドの後ろの止めネジの位置が違うので全て開け直した。隣り合ったペグを一つのネジで固定するクラッシックタイプ。専用のブッシングに交換し、弦を巻くとかなり堅めでロック感がある。ちょっと弦高を上げて、これでチューニングが安定すればかなりいいだろう。
Since the tension of Strato’s 6th string (C) was weak from before, I tried to attach a string guide, but I changed to Magnum Rock which can adjust the height of the peg. It's been a month before the black is out of stock. The position of the set screw on the back of the head was different, so I reopened everything. Classic type that fixes adjacent pegs with one screw. If you replace it with a special bushing and wind the strings, it will be quite firm and have a rocky feel. It would be nice if I could raise the string height a little and this would stabilize the tuning.

ストラトのボリュームが何か変だ。
開けてみると、ボリュームポットからジャックにいく白線が8本ぐらいの撚り線（22AWG？）の内2本しか繋がっていない！（下の赤丸）、そして裏のスプリングの方に行くアースの黒線（撚り線）内1本しか繋がっていなかった！ジャックにいく白線をベルデンの18AWG（撚り線）に変えてみると、力強く太い音に蘇った。三つのピックアップの音の大きさも整った。以前修理した時の音のバランスの良さを思い出した。
Something is wrong with the Stratocaster volume.
When I opened it, the white wire going from the volume pot to the jack was connected to only 2 of the 8 stranded wires (22AWG?)! (Red circle below), and only one of the black wires (stranded wires) of the ground going toward the spring on the back was connected! When I changed the white wire going to Jack to Belden's 18AWG (stranded wire), it revived with a powerful and fat sound. The loudness of the three pickups has also been adjusted. I remembered the good balance of the sound when I repaired it before.
